Kirjan ensimmäisessä osassa, All is Art: On Social Practices and Interpretation of Feelings, kirjailija esittää uuden filosofiakäsityksensä: "Yhteiskunnallisten käytäntöjen ja tunteiden tulkinnan filosofian." Tämän on tarkoitus korvata vallitsevan tieteenkäsityksen (tai pikemminkin väärinkäsityksen), jota kohtaan kirjassa esitetään musertava kritiikki. Kirjassa esitetään, että tieteen sijasta kaikki inhimmillen ja sosiaalinen on taidetta (luovuutta), joka lähtee ihmisen biologisista tarpeista tunteidensa tulkintaan.
